Interesting finding of external root resorption apparently associated with an epithelialized soft tissue graft

Female 67-year-old

MH: Hypertension; Fibromyalgia. Treated and under control.

DH: Regular dental treatment at University dental clinic since 2011.

Wears an occlusal splint to manage bruxism

Epithelialized soft tissue graft at tooth # 3.4 done in a private clinic over 10 years ago

Questions:

  1. Could this external root resorption be triggered by soft tissue grafting?

2. May occlusal trauma be a contributing factor?

3. Has anyone encountered a similar situation?

Comments please and thank you.
